Fashion designer Csilla Somogyi’s launch party on a rooftop overlooking the sparkling Manhattan skyline set the perfect festive tone for showcasing her spring and summer women’s wear line. Cheerful women (and men) with Champagne flutes in hand happily tried on her signature bright tops with patterned silks, as well as light and flowing long summer dresses.
Spring and summer clothing is Csilla’s specialty, and her fun and sexy tops, dresses and handbags are a welcomed sign of the season!
“Silhouettes and color are sources of inspiration for me, as well as fabric shops,” Csilla told us.
Each of Csilla’s limited edition pieces are created by hand. From short, casual dresses in wild silk prints (designed to “show off your legs and spoil your body”) to long, elegant dresses perfect for a beautiful summer night out on the town, Csilla’s collection is playful and diverse.
Csilla is based in New York City, but has lived in Hungary, Algeria, Mexico and Austin, and the influences of these regions are evident in her work. She has sold in Mexico, and is headed to Austin in May 2008 for a trunk show and then to Napa Valley in September 2008. Csilla said that her designs appeal to 20-somethings, 30-somethings and 40-somethings.
While Csilla now designs for herself (and you), she previously designed for Macy's, Nautica and Liz Claiborne.
