Falsi Gioielli: A True Florentine Gem

Falsi Gioielli (“False Jewels”) is an innovative jewelry shop featuring necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings handcrafted by Silvia, the young woman who created the concept 21 years ago. Silvia is self-taught and began making jewelry, because she wanted to find something less baroque and more geometric. With the help of her assistants, Silvia creates her pieces on a small work table in the rear of each of her two shops in the center of Florence.
The original shop is located steps away from the San Lorenzo Market on Via dei Ginori #34R and, two years ago, a second shop opened on Via dei Tavolini #5R, midway between Piazza del Duomo and Piazza del Signoria. Each store has a sparse classic interior with white walls and a touch of dark wood trim. There are ample mirrors, and the jewelry’s shapes and colors catch your eye as you walk past the large glass windows.

Silvia’s Falsi Gioielli jewelry is inspired by a variety of influences. Her English garden collection combines silk flowers, colored beads and buttons to create a retro romantic feel. Her classic, multi-rowed wire bracelet with jewel-toned and facetted beads reflect the current fashion trends. Signs of the future appear in the clean hyper-spatial lines of the plexi-colored cuffs.

In addition, there are the novelty collections. One of these takes its cue from the suits in a deck of cards with dye-cut plexi hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds. Another uses an eclectic deco assortment of buttons and charms on natural cord or colored string. This autumn, Silvia predicts that the space age geometric forms will be strong in shiny black and deep, verdant greens.

There is nothing false about these jewels. So, stop by one of the shops and see some really finely handcrafted jewelry.
