Dazzling River-Based Holiday Shows, Classic Films and More at
San Antonio’s Aztec Theater

Looking for a quick, balmy escape after Thanksgiving? Why not head to San Antonio for a little holiday celebration, history and culture along the charming RiverWalk?

The Aztec On The River Theater is an architectural gem that will transport you back to a time when movies were housed in grand palaces. Built in 1926, it has been beautifully restored and modernized to include a special effects show in the Grand Lobby and a giant theatre for classic film screenings, accompanied by an original 1925 Wurlitzer organ.

On Friday, November 23, 2007, catch a Charlie Chaplin film and see the river light up in glistening, festive colors at the “Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony.” The $29 per person package includes premium seats on the river for the parade at 7:00 pm, with a special screening of Charlie Chaplin’s last silent movie, “City Lights,” at 4:30 pm.

On December 7, 8 and 9, 2007, Aztec hosts “Urban-15’s Holiday Laser Show,” a multimedia choreographed show of laser beams, vivid animations and lights dancing to holiday music. Designed by laser artist Tim Walsh, the dramatic 45 minute show is designed for all ages. Tickets: $12 for adults, $8 for children.

The Theater is also featured in the travel book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die,” so you can go and check another one off the list…

The Aztec Theater is located at 201 East Commerce Street (corner of North St Mary's Street), San Antonio, Texas. Click here for more details.
