Take a Break this Spring in San Diego

Over 70 miles of sparkling beaches. A year-round average daily temperature of 70.5 degrees. Still need convincing that San Diego would make a delightful spring getaway destination? How about high art, a variety of live music and a vibrant nightlife?
Artwalk Festival
San Diego hosts a free ArtWalk Festival in quaint, yet contemporary Little Italy on April 26 and 27, 2008, from Noon to 6:00 pm. The largest open-air gallery in the area, ArtWalk features fine painting, sculpture, glasswork, photography, music and dance by more than 400 artists from throughout Southern California, Arizona and Mexico.
The fest also offers performances by local musicians, dance troupes and other entertainers. While you’re there, take advantage of Little Italy’s outstanding restaurants, as well as the more than 40 bars and lounges in the lively Gaslamp Quarter just minutes away. ArtWalk continues at the Mexican Consulate headquarters where some of the best and most unique works of Mexican artists are showcased.
Adams Avenue Roots Festival
On May 3 and 4, 2008, catch vintage blues, folk, Appalachian, country, bluegrass, and Celtic music performed by roots artists on seven outdoor stages at the Adams Avenue Roots Festival. Located at Adams Park in University Heights, this free fest also includes a beer garden, food and crafts.
Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
In April, explore the 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus -- flowers with rose-like petals -- which are in full bloom and splash the hillsides of Carlsbad Ranch with bursts of reds, oranges, whites, pinks and yellows. On April 25 through 27, 2008, peruse orchids on display (and for sale) from around the world, as well as enjoy the music of South American flutist Khausak. The Flower Fields are open seven days a week, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, through May 11, 2008.
