Eastern European New Wave Cinema at Manhattan’s Anthology Film Archives

Anthology Film Archives, located in the heart of Manhattan’s East Village, preserves, celebrates and screens American independent and avant-garde cinema, as well as classic European, Soviet and Japanese works.
From 11/30/07 to 12/5/07, catch the films of Jerzy Skolimowski, a Polish director whose films are some of the most eclectic and wide-ranging of 1970s and 80s, including such international notables as THE SHOUT, MOONLIGHTING, and SUCCESS IS THE BEST REVENGE. His career included making films throughout Europe and the U.S., and across a broad spectrum of genres.
Anthology will also present a special revival premiere of a brand new 35mm print of Skolimowski’s 1971 masterpiece, DEEP END, from 12/6/07 to 12/12/07. Only the second English-language film made by Skolimowski, DEEP END is a candid portrait of youth and sexual awakening, with a unique tone and mood.
